Hudson: «PPC, a Unique Model in Italy»

On May 14, 2025, La Gazzetta di Parma, the main news outlet here in Parma, published an article I wrote about my experience interning for Parma Partecipazioni Calcistiche (PPC) while studying abroad in Parma for the semester. Writing in Italian, I spoke about what I accomplished interning for them in these 4 months and the invaluable lessons I learned being immersed in the culture of such a historic club, Parma Calcio 1913. It has been a truly incredible experience and I was honored to be asked to publish this article about how much it meant to me.

For context, PPC is a group that owns 1% of the Serie A professional soccer team, Parma Calcio 1913, the other 99% owned by the American Krause Group. The organization, today with more than 1,000 members, allows all fans to actively participate in the life of the club, contributing to its management. While studying abroad in Parma, Italy for the semester, I interned for the organization, working in their office at the Ennio Tardini Stadium.

Below, you will find the English translation of my newspaper article that gives a snapshot of my semester there- it’s something I wanted to share with the We Call it Soccer Community. As I fly back home in just one week, I will undoubtedly hold these experiences close as I head into the future.

English Translation of the Article

Hello, my name is Hudson Delorme and I am an American student who has been writing and speaking Italian for almost three years, as well as studying in Parma since January: I attend Boston College, which has a great exchange program here in Parma for third-year students. I imagined that it would be an all-encompassing, cultural, and unique experience and, so far, it has been. Through the university, I had the opportunity to do an internship at the Stadio Tardini with Parma Partecipazioni Calcistiche: honestly, I have always been extremely passionate about soccer, since I could walk. I would also like to work in the world of professional soccer after graduation: so, when they told me that I would have the opportunity in Parma to collaborate with a company that owns a small part of Parma Calcio, I was very happy. For PPC, I write articles about the matches, make some presentations for their members and translate a lot of things from Italian to English for foreign members: I am really happy to have given my contribution. I fell in love with the atmosphere of the stadium, which I experience both when I watch the matches live and when I come to work in the office at PPC: in March, for my birthday, my parents came to visit me and it was nice to accompany them on a tour of the stadium. In conclusion, after a few months here in Parma, I can say that I truly admire the dedication of the people who are part of PPC, which presents a unique model in Serie A. In my opinion, it is a beautiful thing, for the fans, to have the opportunity to contribute directly, both economically and with ideas, to the popular shareholding of the club. I believe this is the essence of our sport. Living, studying and working in Parma has only strengthened my great passion for soccer, which will last forever and, also for this, I am so grateful for this experience that I will never forget. From today onwards, I will always be a Parma fan.
